Windshield Claims

"Windshield claim" is the term used to describe a claim involving chipped or cracked windshields caused by flying objects, usually stones.

A windshield claim will not cause your premium to go up. However, a series of windshield claims will cause an insurer to increase your comprehensive deductible.

Windshield claims often do not have to be reported to the insurer in order to get the repairs done. Instead, you can take your car to a repair shop approved by your insurer, present your liability slip to prove you are insured and the repairs will be done. Of course, you will have to pay your comprehensive deductible and the shop will call to confirm the amount of the deductible.
